Since 1976, the Ford Fiesta has created countless memories for our customers worldwide. More than 22 million examples of the small iconic car have been built over the years and have found their way to customers in 50 countries.
For some, the iconic Ford Fiesta has been their first car, while for others it evokes childhood memories from the back seat on the way south with the family. Throughout ten generations, the car has brought great joy to Ford's customers, but as you know, all good things come to an end.
Today we therefore not only say goodbye to Fiesta, but we also say thank you.
In June, the last Fiesta rolls off the assembly line at the factory in Cologne. One major chapter in Ford's history is closing, while the next is only just beginning on Ford's journey toward an electric future.
The Ford Fiesta was initially a secret project in connection with Ford wanting to create a small car for the world. The mission was called 'Bobcat' and was close to Henry Ford II's heart. In Europe and the USA, they started developing a small new car. Everything from the car's design to its mechanical composition was developed here for the first time.
The Fiesta name was personally chosen by Henry Ford ll – partly because of the spirit of the word and as a celebration of Ford's new connection to Spain with the construction of the factory in Valencia.The first Fiesta rolls off the assembly line in Saarlouis, Germany, with production for American customers, while the factory in Valencia produces the popular Ford Fiesta for Europeans. In total, more than 84,000 cars were built that year.
In 2021, Ford launches the latest generation of Ford Fiesta with a new design, new technologies such as LED Matrix headlights, a 12.3" digital instrument display and the option to choose between a number of different EcoBoost Hybrid engines.
Now, Ford announces that production of the Ford Fiesta will end in the summer of 2023.
