A few days after a spill brought tons of tar on more than 160 km of coastline, Israel has closed all its Mediterranean beaches. Environmental activists began reporting tar on the Israeli coast last week after a severe storm. The pollution wreaked havoc on local wildlife. Officials estimate that eliminating the pollution will cost millions of dollars.
