Munnar in December and January is an absolute wonderland of mist, truly doing its role as a winter retreat. The extreme cold, sometimes dropping to 10°C, only enhances the beauty of the tea plantations and the rolling hills. Certainly, trekking, wildlife spotting at Eravikulam National Park, and boating at Mattupetty Dam are activities to behold! Frost visits occasionally, painting the entire region mostly white. Rock climbers or campers can have a serious thrill in this part of the country during the summer months: even two honeymooners will find the freezing temperatures offer a little magic for cozying up together with warm blankets.
