Campervans are popular, and Opel does not want to miss out on this opportunity, mainly because it has a large inventory of vans. At the 2022 Caravan Show, the German automaker showed off the new Opel Zafira-e Life Crosscamp Flex, an electric van that can be turned into an electric campervan.

The Opel Zafira-e Life is one of the numerous electric vans available from German manufacturers, and it is the largest of those classified as passenger cars. It features up to 9 seats in the standard passenger version, depending on the configuration and size of its bodywork. In the case of the Crosscamp Flex electric campervan, the vast back room has been fully remodeled to accommodate a recreational vehicle.

Logically, because it is a camper, the Opel Zafira-e Life Crosscamp Flex electric campervan comes with everything you need to enjoy a comfortable trip. Its equipment includes a kitchen cabinet with a sink, a gas stove, built-in cabinets, and drinking and waste water containers. All of the rooms are in gray and black tones with a brown wood-look floor.

The front chairs rotate 180 degrees to face the living space located at the back of this mobile home. The back seat transforms into a double bed, with two additional beds beneath the elevated roof. The Zafira-e Crosscamp Flex can sleep four people in total.

To avoid using the traction battery's energy for anything other than driving, it has a 95 Ah auxiliary battery on board that powers the lighting, the refrigerator, and the USB socket for charging other devices, such as smartphones or cameras, or other everyday electrical devices, such as hair dryers or electric toothbrushes.

As previously said, this camper is entirely electric, allowing weekend getaways and camping without damaging emissions. The electric drive uses the 75 kWh capacity battery, the larger of the two available in the Opel Zafira-e Life electric minivan, allowing for 330 kilometers of autonomy. Fast charging at 100 kW direct current recharges the battery to 80% in around 45 minutes. The electric motor, for its part, has a power output of 136 horsepower (100 kW) and a torque output of 260 Nm.

The Crosscamp Flex electric campervan, like the rest of the range, comes standard with frontal collision alert, emergency braking aid with pedestrian and cyclist detection, driver fatigue alert, lane keeping assistant, and traffic sign recognition with semi-adaptive cruise control.

In 2023, the Opel Zafira-e Life Crosscamp Flex will be available for purchase. Later on, the campervan will also be available as the Crosscamp Lite. Prices and a specific date for commercialization will be revealed later.
